Under the guidance of Principal Dr.Iqbal N Shaikh, The Department of B.Voc (Software Development), in collaboration with the Centre for Youth Development and Activities (CYDA), organized a one-day workshop on “Women Empowerment in IT Sector” on 26th September 2025 at 11:00 AM onwards in Poona College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune. The objective of the workshop was to inspire and empower young women students by highlighting their potential in the IT field, promoting gender equality, and providing valuable information about skill development, training, and placement opportunities.
The session commenced with the recitation of Tilawat-e-Quran by Mr. Shakeel Akhter, Assistant Professor, B.Voc (Banking, Finance, and Insurance), which set a positive and spiritual tone for the program. The workshop was led and hosted by Ms. Nikhat Hurzuk, Assistant Professor, B.Voc (Software Development), who addressed the students and extended a warm welcome to all the guests and participants. The keynote session was delivered by Ms. Prajakta Chougle, Program Manager at CYDA, who spoke on the significance of women empowerment and elaborated on the various training and placement opportunities provided by CYDA to enhance students’ professional growth. Ms. Amruta from CYDA also shared a detailed overview of the organization’s initiatives and programs aimed at supporting students’ career development.
Following the session, Ms. Nikhat Hurzuk felicitated the guest speakers as a token of appreciation. Later, Mr. Farooque Shaikh, Nodal Officer,B.VOC, addressed the students and encouraged them to seize opportunities in the IT sector, focus on continuous learning, and work towards leadership roles. The workshop concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Nikhat Hurzuk, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Management, Principal Dr. Iqbal Shaikh, Nodal Officer Mr. Farooque Shaikh, and Program Coordinator Dr. Imran Baig Mirza for their continuous guidance and support. The guest speakers also conveyed their appreciation to the college Principal and staff members for their support and collaboration.
The workshop received an enthusiastic response from the students, who found the session highly informative, motivational, and valuable for their future career planning. It provided them with deeper insights into the importance of women’s participation in the IT industry, the skills required to excel, and the opportunities available through initiatives like CYDA. Overall, the workshop successfully achieved its objective of motivating and empowering students to pursue careers in technology and contribute to the growth of the digital workforce.
